Phillip Chidawati leads Beyond Water Malawi, driving scale, operational effectiveness and income streams to accelerate business growth and social impact. Phillip brings over 15 years of experience in business startup and growth across sectors. Prior to joining Beyond Water, he was MD of Challenges, an enterprise and investment organisation. Phillip is committed to transforming Malawi’s rural water sector, bringing professional, reliable and innovative services to Malawi’s population.
Jessy Kawamba has nearly 20 years of financial management experience for both commercial and non for profit organisations and has gained an MBA along her journey. Crucially, Jessy manages Beyond Waters financial systems that help us ensure we have accurate financial data for costing and forecasting, which are a key pillar of our approach to achieve financial sustainability as a social impact business.
Henderson Kadamanja used to be an M+E officer for an NGO, but decided his skills and passion were better suited working for Beyond Water helping to establish a truly sustainable (financially) solution for access to water for communities in Malawi. Henderson oversees and brings together our data evidence to ensure we understand both our market, our performance and our impact.
Chikondi Kaomba has worked in the water and rural sectors for 15 years. Chikondi manages and organises our operational field teams. Ensuring we provide repair and maintenance services on time and cost effectively.
Beyond Water Malawi was established by the NGO Pump Aid in 2018. Our aim is to build the capacity of local leadership and follow a pathway to local ownership. At present Beyond Water Malawi is supported by a small international team as we work towards this ambition.
Duncan Marsh co-founded Beyond Water and for the last 6 years has helped to lead it from an initial idea to a game changing social impact business, making access to water for poor rural communities a truly impactful and financially sustainable proposition. Duncan is a graduate of the University of London and has over 25 year experience in the water, agricultural and enterprise development sectors.

Michael Chuter co-founder Beyond Water. He is a qualified accountant with 30+ years Director level experience across commercial, not for profit and international sectors, start-up to multinational. Michael excels at business strategy, growth and operational analysis. He’s driven by a commitment to grow Beyond Water as a truly sustainable solution to water challenges for poor communities.
James Kitt is part of Beyond Water’s senior management team with a focus on developing a financially viable business model by attracting a blend of funders and investors to the business. James has developed Beyond Water as a business proposition, supporting outreach in Malawi and across international stakeholders. James joined Beyond Water in 2022 from a leading INGO where he focused on private sector engagement. He was attracted by the prospect of scaling social impact through a sustainable business model.
